Mother-daughter bonding

The poser at N'Dilo, a First Nations community at the tip of Latham Island in Old Town. It is very difficult to get a natural photo of this 23-year-old non-compliant child.

This weekend is the 1st Annual Old Town Ramble, with various workshops and demos by artists and musicians, but we got ourselves sidetracked--first by shopping and then by checking out stuff not on the offical agenda.

We ended up exploring the more commercial aspects of Yellowknife. But there's nothing like mother-daughter bonding over shopping.
Bronwyn got an Inukshuk necklace, carved out of caribou antler, at Northern Images--one of the few shops with authentic stuff. The large soapstone carvings there are amazing and can run into thousands of dollars. I won't be picking up very many of those for Christmas gifts.

It kept raining on and off, thwarting a climb up Pilot's Monument for a panoramic view of the city. We did discover this rather ragged cut-out, which just begged for a photo op. But that oh so T.O. daughter wouldn't play ball, even though a passer-by offered to take our picture together.
Bronwyn: I am awesome!!
